Shot some film the other day with my Yashica-A TLR and these were some of the results. The film was Fuji Pro 400 H. I have to say, next time I splurge on some 120 it’s going to be Kodak. The Fuji takes a lot of work in the scanner to get it to look decent.
I finally got to see Bill Cunningham: New York last night. I had wanted to check it out when it was playing at Movies at the Museum but never got the opportunity. I am huge fan of both photography (obviously) and documentaries, but I think anyone would enjoy this film. Bill Cunningham writes two columns for the NYT and has been a pillar of the NYC fashion scene for over 50 years. He is both eccentric and endearing. His singular focus and obsession with his work is truly inspiring and daunting. The film really doesn’t focus on the pictures or the technical aspects of the craft, but Mr. Cunningham only uses photography as a tool to express his love for fashion and although he does not say so, I think NYC as well. The film culminates with him receiving the Officier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Ministry of Culture in Paris and his acceptance speech had me a wee bit verklempt.
